Sidra Medical & Research Center

Sidra Medical and Research Center is the brainchild of Her Highness Sheikha Mosa Bint Nasser Al Thani, and was commissioned through her charity, Qatar Foundation. The iconic facility is situated on a prime corner site at the entry point to Doha’s Education City. Pelli Clarke Pelli’s design makes reference to the sea-faring life inherent in Doha’s history with vast, sail-like atria interspersed between the ward blocks, ensuring that the scheme dominates the skyline across much of the city. Extensive patient-accessible healing gardens form the fourth floor of the atria.

The facility comprises a state-of-the-art 550-bed specialist hospital and clinic, operating under a North American system of healthcare delivery, and incorporates a teaching component associated with Weill Cornell University.

The facility is designed to be fully digital upon opening, and will be the most technologically advanced medical centre in the Middle East. Services provided will include bone marrow transplantation, abdominal organ transplantation, and obesity-related surgery. The Imaging department includes CT, PET CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, General Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and the 12 operating theatres will incorporate Da Vinci robots and an intra-operative Angio/MRI/OR.
