National Center for Cancer Care & Research

NCCCR will be a new national cancer centre forming the first stage of the HMC Masterplan rollout. Replacing an existing building, the accommodation will be state-of-the-art, including Proton Beam and cyclotron facilities. Designed to initially operate as a stand-alone building, the design incorporates physical, technological and infrastructure future-proofing to enable a streamlined connection to the proposed Tertiary Hospital, once complete.

The HMC Masterplan is an ambitious redevelopment of the existing city centre site, in line with Qatar's National Vision 2030. Part of this project was to standardise the expectations for all designed elements throughout the site, from inpatient room requirements to accessibility. The best worldwide building standards were identified, and reconciliation pathways developed for contradictory or ambiguous elements. The result was a comprehensive set of National Design Guidelines for Qatari healthcare buildings.
